Why are the Fox Trot 5K Run/Walk in-person events cancelled?
Due to COVID-19, The Michael J. Fox Foundation has canceled all in-person Fox Trot events in 2020. Averting large gatherings is not only our civic responsibility to help curtail the spread of the coronavirus but is especially important given the potential increased risk to our audience. In place of our in-person Fox Trot events, we are hosting a Virtual 5K/10K event on Saturday, October 3.
What does a “virtual” 5K/10K event look like?
Instead of a marked course, participants will complete the 5K/10K whenever and wherever they choose! We are encouraging participants to complete their run or walk during a 48 hour window between 3 p.m ET on Friday, October 2 and 3 p.m. ET Sunday, October 4. Fundraising opportunities will stay the same. 100 percent of your registration fees and fundraising dollars will still go directly to the Foundation's high-impact programs to speed new and improved therapies and end Parkinson's for good.
What will I receive if I register for the virtual 5K/10K?
All registered participants will receive a race packet via mail. The packet will include a t shirt, a running bib, and materials from our sponsors. Shipments will begin in mid-September and participants must register by September 20 to receive their packet before October 3.

Is there a recognition program for the virtual event?
Yes! There are still opportunities for yourself and your team to qualify for fundraising recognition levels. Stay tuned for more info!
I am not registered for an event, but still want to support The Michael J. Fox Foundation. What can I do?
We appreciate your support! You can still donate to the Virtual 5K/10K event by visiting foxtrot.org/donate and electing to support the Series, an individual fundraiser or team. As always, 100 percent of all funds raised are going to critical research to help speed a cure for Parkinson's disease. For other ways to get involved, please visit our website at michaeljfox.org.
Registered Participant FAQs
I registered for a 2020 Fox Trot event prior to the announcement of the virtual 5K/10K. Do I need to register again?
No, you do not need to re-register. All currently registered participants for any 2020 Fox Trot event are automatically registered for the Virtual 5K/10K event. If you do not wish to participate in the virtual event, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
When should I expect to receive my race packet?
Shipment of race packets will begin in mid-September.
Can I still fundraise on my existing individual/team page?
Yes! Your fundraising page will not change. You can still use the same link to share with your network and encourage friends and family (from all over the globe!) to join you virtually.
As a Team Captain, I want to update my team about the shift to a virtual event. What should I tell them?

Thank you for your hard work and dedication leading up to the Fox Trot. As you may know, due to COVID-19, The Michael J. Fox Foundation has decided to cancel all in-person Fox Trot events and transition to a virtual race on Saturday, October 3.
Together or apart, I hope you’ll still join our team on October 3 to continue to race toward a cure.
